Creating a Database and Linking a User to it

To create a new database for cPanel users, follow these steps:

  1. Login to the control panel (cPanel)

  2. From Databases block choose MySQL Databases

Note:

Websites control panels differs from each other depending on its versions, but it is minor differences.

  1. Now you will see Create New Database, type a name for the new database and press Create Database

A message will appear showing that the database had been created.

  1. Press Go Back

We finished creating the database, now we should create a username that have full permissions to control the database.

  1. In the same page you will see MySQL Users, and below it Add New User, type a username and password for the new user (preferably use digits and characters for the password), then Press Create User

  1. A message will be shown to notify you that the username and password was created, Press Go Back

Now remains a last step which is linking the username to the database

  1. In the same page you will see Add User To Database, below it user name and database name, choose the newly created username and database name and press Add

Note:

When you need to type username and database name in some script that requires linking files to the databases, the name should have the form user_dbname

With these steps we finished creating the database and linking a user to it.
