Articles settings



To view the 'Articles settings':    

1. Sign in to the Administration Control Panel.
2. Choose 'Plugins settings' from the 'Settings' menu, then, choose 'Articles settings' and you will find:

• Left-side menu items: The sections which will be displayed on the left-side menu.

Sections to display in Homepage: The sections which will appear on the homepage.

• Sections displayed in the 'Latest articles' block: Sections you would like to display on the 'Latest articles' block.

• Max contents to display in ‘Latest articles' block: You can set the maximum number of contents to be displayed.

• Display the ‘Latest articles' block in Homepage as well as within the different modules: You can choose whether you would like to activate this option or not provided that you added sections to the display.

• Maximum width for section picture: The uploaded image will be reduced automatically to the preset dimensions in case it was larger.

• Maximum height for section picture: The uploaded image will be reduced automatically to the preset dimensions in case it was larger.

• Display sections only: If you choose “Yes”, the previously chosen sections from “Sections to display in Homepage” option will be displayed, in case you choose “No” the section settings of the chosen sections will be displayed directly underneath it.

• Max sections to display per row on the Homepage: The maximum number of sections to be displayed in each row on the homepage.

• Max contents to display from each section on the Homepage: The maximum number of contents from each section.

• Display statistics: This is where you can activate or deactivate the display of Articles statistics on the homepage. 

• Number of sections to display per row on module pages: The maximum number of sections to display per page before going to the following page. 

• Number of sections to display per page: The maximum number of sections to display per row on module pages.

• Number of contents per page: The number of contents displayed on module pages per page.

• Activating RSS feed: This is where you can activate and deactivate this feature.

• The number of RSS feeds: Choose the number of article feeds to be displayed per page.

• Sections order: There are 7 different ways you can arrange the sections and they are explained as follows:

      

       - Ascending order: According to the section ID starting with number 1.

       - Descending order: According to the section ID starting with the last section.

       - Alphabetical ascending order: According to the section title.

       - Alphabetical descending order: According to the section title.

       - Number of contents (ascending): According to the number of contents each section has; the section with the least number of contents appears first. For example, if a section has 1200 content items and another section has 2000 content items, the one with 1200 content items will appear first.

       - Number of contents (descending): According to the number of contents each section has; the section with the most number of contents appears first. For example, if a section has 1200 content items and another section has 2000 content items, the one with 2000 content items will appear first.

       - Manually: It deactivates all previous ordering options and depends entirely on how you manually order the sections as shown in the picture:

• Contents order: There are 8 different ways you can arrange the contents and they are explained as follows:

       

       - Ascending order (number): Same as sections order.  

       - Descending order (number): Same as sections order. 

       - Adding date (ascending): According to addition date.

       - Adding date (descending): According to addition date.

       - Alphabetical ascending order: According to the content title.

       - Alphabetical descending order: According to the content title.

       - Number of views (ascending): According to the number of views for each content item; the content with the least number of views appears first. For example, if an article has 100 views and another article has 80 views, the one with 80 views will be displayed first.

       - Number of views (descending): According to the number of views for each content item; the content with the most number of views appears first. For example, if an article has 100 views and another article has 80 views, the one with 100 views will be displayed first.

• Ticker display activation: This is where you can activate the 'Latest articles' ticker.

• Ticker display allowed locations: There are four locations for displaying the articles ticker:

       

All pages: The ticker will be displayed on all the website pages.

       - Module only: The ticker will be displayed on the Article module pages only.

       - Other modules only: The ticker will be displayed on other modules pages only and will not be displayed on the Article module.

       - Homepage only: The ticker will be displayed only on the homepage.

• Meta keywords: Type the Meta keywords for all the module pages in case you don’t have Meta keywords for the sections, this is used by search engines to index your pages in a better way.

• Meta description: Type the Meta description for all the Article module pages in case you don’t have Meta descriptions for the sections.

• View users' elements: You can choose to enable or disable viewing users' elements.

  • Activating PDF: Activating PDF in Modules.

• Shortened module title: The shortened title for the module that will be shown in its URLs and this shouldn't include numbers or be used before.

• Max period for editing content: The maximum amount of time in seconds for editing content before removing its record; so that the content wouldn't appear as being edited by someone else after the allotted time is over.
